On this Thursday 2nd of June, shorebird enthusiast, author and pilot Milly Formby will be setting off on an epic journey around Australia as she follows the path of our migratory shorebirds.
To promote her recently released children’s book and to help raise the public profile of migratory shorebirds, Milly will pilot her microlight plane on a 20,000km trip around the coastline of Australia. She will be stopping along the way to give talks to school children who undoubtedly will be inspired by her journey and enthralled in the book “A Shorebird Flying Adventure” which can be preordered from CSIRO publishing. She is scheduled to land in Old Bar in late September or early October.
After a crowdfunding campaign raised nearly $80,000 Milly has left her job with Birdlife Australia, packed up her plane and belongings and driven to White Gum Farm in WA where she has re-assembled the plane and is ready to begin her flight.
