The Wallabi Point Coastcare group was first started in 2005 and operated until 2012 before taking a hiatus until it reformed in 2018 and remains active with over 20 members.
The bushfires of 2019 burnt out all vegetation surrounding the township of Wallabi Point, including over 3.5 hectares of littoral rainforest. Since the fires the group has focused on preventing transformer weeds, such as asparagus, lantana and bitou bush from establishing and degrading our native vegetation and ecosystems.
The group works on Thursday mornings from 8am to 10am. Meet at the North Wallabi carpark.
