About Us
Tops Landcare Group is based around Gloucester and the northern river catchments of the Barrington Tops. Including Tibbuc, Bowman River, Copeland and other localities within the 2422 postcode.
The group holds monthly working bees, typically on a weekend, to undertake weeding and/or planting on member’s properties to kickstart projects or to provide follow-up for work already underway. The group’s activities also include creek restoration, erosion control, and seed collection for germination at council nurseries.
We focus on private land conservation and restoration for both native habitat and best practice farming via educational workshops, sharing learnings and experience.
A major goal of the group is building a community of like-minded people to share the workload with our common purpose.
We draw on advice from experts within our membership, Hunter Local Land Services and MidCoast Council as well as the many
events and workshops held by Mid Coast 2 Tops Landcare Connection designed to increase member capacity and knowledge.
Our activities benefit the community as well as the
environment by improving water quality and overall catchment health, improving habitat values for many local species and assisting to control invasive weeds of regional significance.

Several group members have properties along the Manning River at Tibbuc and together have been undertaking weeding, vegetation restoration and feral animal control in cooperation with Midcoast Council and Hunter Local Land Services. These works have been undertaken with the goal of benefiting local endangered or threatened species such as the Manning River Turtle and Platypus whilst improving water quality, decreasing evaporation, increasing soil hydration whilst mitigating the risk of erosion in order to benefit both neighbouring commercial farms and town water supplies.
We have group resources available such as sensor cameras to assist members to monitor both endemic wildlife and feral animals.
New members welcome, please contact the convenor, Kylie, to get involved.
