Community Koala Tree Planting Day at Wingham

Latest News, News

Join us on Saturday 6 May at Wingham for an exciting and informative morning of guest speakers, tree planting and a FREE BBQ lunch!

A range of guest speakers will cover topics such as koala feed tree identification, what to do if you find an injured koala, and tips and tricks for successful tree planting, followed by a hands-on session to plant trees for the koalas and other wildlife.

The tree planting will be followed by a free BBQ lunch for everyone involved and free trees will be available for you to take home!

Koalas are frequently seen around the Wingham area, and by planting trees we know koalas use, we can create future habitat and wildlife corridors to ensure safe passage for them and other wildlife across the landscape.

This tree planting day is a great opportunity to learn about koalas and tree planting, and then get your hands dirty doing something practical that will assist koala conservation.

The day is suitable for most ages, however, please do take into account it will be held in a paddock and may not be suitable for the very young or those with mobility issues.

Parking is available on site and will require you to drive across a paddock.  There are NO toilets on site.  Water and hand sanitiser will be provided for handwashing.  All tools will be provided for the tree planting. Please bring a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, gloves, and wear long pants and covered shoes.  A fold up chair would be great if you have one.

Morning tea, lunch and drinking water will be provided.

When: Saturday 6 May at 9.45am for a 10am start. Finish around 2pm.

Where: Wingham Travelling Stock Reserve on Youngs Road, via Wingham. Signs will be there on the day.

RSVP is essential – please register online here: https://events.humanitix.com/community-koala-tree-planting-day
