Parts of the Mid Coast community gathered for the Fire Skills Expo at Tinonee Recreation Reserve on Sunday, 31 July and what a success it was!
More than 40 community members attended, stopping to talk to agency staff or RFS volunteers and having a go at some of the demonstrations and activities available on the day.
Some members took turns starting the portable water pump, holding the hose to practice targeting or participating in discussions around how to construct a good pile burn. Others took their kids over to the mini fire engine where they could have a go at shooting water.
The event wouldn’t have been a success without the help of Tinonee Rural Fire Brigade, and the following agencies and community groups: Hunter Local Land Services, Taree Indigenous Development and Employment (TIDE) Rangers, Mid Coast 2 Tops Landcare, Burrell Creek Youth & Community Association and Great Lakes Mowers and Chainsaws. Thank you to all those that helped out!
