2021 Waterways and Catchment Report Card

Agriculture, Community Engagement, Ecological Restoration, Ecology, Erosion

Healthy waterways and catchments are vital systems that keep our local towns and communities thriving and ensure a healthy and vibrant future.

For the last 10 years MidCoast Council has teamed up with experts from the NSW Department of Planning Industry and Environment to investigate our local waterways. Over 1900 individual water quality samples have been taken across our six major catchments in order to lean more how our waterways are doing, identify trends and cycles in our estuaries and help track the work being undertaken to protect them.

The result is the MidCoast Waterway and Catchment Report Card.

This year we shine a spotlight on the Mid Wallamba Estuary where we have been working hard in partnering with the community, businesses, landholders and other government agencies on many projects that improve water quality in that system.

Watch the video below and read the Report Card to learn more about this important work and what you can do to help.
